Lafayette Wedding Photographer | Bontrager

“You pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope…I have loved non but you.” — Jane Austin

Josiah never planned on getting married but life seems to throw curve balls our way just when we think we have everything figured out. We go to school, start our careers and are perfectly happy living our own lives….but then something remarkable happens. Someone walks through the door and you forget what your name is. It’s all over from there. That is love.

I was so happy when I got an email from Ariel. She told me that she wasn’t really planning on having a wedding photographer for her Lafayette, Indiana wedding but saw a friend of her’s (a bridesmaid too!) had left a review and decided that I was a good fit. That friend was one of the very first weddings that I took after I started traveling for Lafayette Weddings. If I remember correctly, that review said that her husband didn’t really understand wedding photography but once he saw the photos he was so happy to get to see the parts of the day that he wasn’t a part of.

That is why I love to do what I do. Weddings are chaos times ten and couples are often so busy that they do not see all the smiles and laughter and hugs and hilarity that makes up wedding days. They are talking to guests and not getting to see all the crazy dance moves at the reception or they are hidden away so that guests won’t see them and don’t get to see your mom hug your grandma when she comes through the door. But I do. I get to see all the love. So I take photos of it so that you can see it later….when everything has died down and your life is getting back to normal.

Wedding Photography is important because in ten years you won’t remember 90% of your wedding day. Sure you’ll remember the big stuff; walking down the aisle, your kiss, your first dance, but you won’t remember a flower girl looking at you like a princess or the hug that you gave your college friends….and the photos will remind you :)

Lifestyle Newborn Photographer in Noblesville, Indiana | Shelton

“And so the adventure begins…”

One of the most fun things about being a wedding photographer for so long (has it really been almost eleven years? Because I do not feel like it has been that long!) is that your wedding couples start to grow their families. They decide to put away the “carefree” lifestyle of non-parent-dom and strap in to this crazy roller coaster. It makes me really happy…unreasonably happy some might say…to get to be a part of such an amazing time!

I approach newborn photography in a little bit different way than some photographers, although it is getting more popular lately. I photography Lifestyle newborn photography sessions, which means I may tell you where to sit or what rooms have the best light, but generally the only posing prompts I give you are to cuddle and love your new baby….which is never trouble!

I want to capture as much real life as possible. Newborns are only so small for so long and before you know it, this time in your life is going to be over. I am convinced that babies grow at ten times the rate of adults, haha. They’ll be toddling around, getting into trouble, and talking your ear off before you know it!

If you are looking for newborn photographers in Noblesville, Indiana or know someone expecting their next little one, I would love it if you passed my website along! These are quickly becoming one of my favorite things to photograph. There is just something so wonderful about everyday life and the upheaval of something new crashing into each other that makes me really happy. I guess you can say that I enjoy chaos on a deep level, haha!

Newborn Photography in Fishers, Indiana - Lamaster

“As soon as I saw you, I knew a grand adventure was about to happen.”

I photographed Quincy and Derrick two years ago when they got married and was so happy when I got the email that they were expanding their family. Weddings are fun and all, but there is just something great about the chaos that comes with brand new parents.

We did their newborn photos in Fishers, Indiana at their parents house so it was extra special to be able to include grandparents in their session. I highly recommend it for anyone who is looking into newborn photographers in Fishers to chat with their newborn photographer to see if it would be an option to include grandparents. I feel like a lot of us lifestyle newborn photographers would totally be up for including family!

Being new parents is stressful. I approach newborn photography sessions in a very laid back way. There are no hard time limits and I always go by how the baby is feeling. Sometimes they get cranky and need to take a break. Just like adults! And that is totally okay! We never rush.

Feedings, diaper changes and a few tears are all a part of parenthood and I photograph if all. My newborn photography sessions are not just about getting a couple photos of your new family but also capturing a true snapshot of your life. It may seem like it’s all you will ever know right now, but soon enough your little bundle will be a walking, then they’ll be riding bikes in the driveway and then they will be heading off to their first day of school and you’ll look back and say “Gosh, were they ever really that small?” and “haha, remember that funny face they’d make?” “Remember how tired we were, but how we pushed through?” “Look at how all of our hard work has paid off…”

The Allure at the Lake Wedding in Chesterton, IN

“The greatest love stories involve your friends and family.”

I met Mallory in Merrillville, IN after her shift at the hospital and I knew right away that her wedding was going to be so much fun! Laid back, down to earth brides are my jam and Mallory was that in spades. She smiled easily and told me great stories about her family so that when the day came around a few months later I felt like I knew so many people without even having to have met them before.

I cannot thank Mallory and Jay enough for letting me follow them around on their wedding at The Allure on the Lake in Chesterton, IN. I am so lucky to be able to work with people who truly get my vision of candid photography and the glorious moments you just can’t get when working from a giant shot list.
